In the Realm of Aedai, magic is a necessity to live. Thus, everyone born has the ability to manipulate magic. Though, not everyone has the same magic capacity, and this may vary on a large scale of many variables. These variables lie within genetics. Before making a character, make sure you study your race well, so that you understand exactly what capability your character may hold.
Base races are exactly what they seem. There are two types of races within Aedai; that of the commons, and then there are the Dissimulatives. Each differs in a key genetic, base races being simply what they are in their bios. Nothing more, nothing less, though their personalities and personal preferences can change freely, based on the members' perspective.
Elf
The second majority race within the population of Aedai, the Tainted Breeds being the overall majority. They hold true to their genetics, that along with pointed ears, are commonly known for their height and slender figures. Their average appearance ranges between 120~200lbs when you consider both male and female, and their height averages for both sexes, around 5’7~6’5ft. They’re considerate of an average lifespan of 80~120 years, though these are just averages, as some individuals may exceed, or even precede these averages.
Elves, due to their genetics, are more intact with their Magic than any other race. With this advantage, Elve-ran villages or societies are heavily dependent on manual labor, with the use of magic, rather it be water siphoning for agricultural use, or fire manipulation for bulk cooking. They accept Dwarf technology with open arms when it comes to the mainland of Kabal, though there are the handful who stick to tradition and believe that manual labor pays off much more than shortcuts.
This race is also known to commonly suffer from an abnormal case of schizophrenia, due to the socially accepted “wolves in sheep clothing”. While symptoms can be as small as simply avoiding large groups and having trust issues, there have been cases that exceed dire attention, such as hostile personalities and closing oneself from society as a whole.
Dwarf
While the Dwarf population is not in no time skyrocketing, this humble race has developed well on its’ own for the past 100 or so years, constantly advancing in their technology. Their physical appearance is commonly known to be short and stubby, though there are a handful of cases in which slender physique may slide between genetics. Taking into consideration of both sexes, Dwarfs average about 90~150lbs, 3’5~4’5ft. Their lifespan is roughly 50~80 years, though, this average is based around the more traditional Dwarfs, who don’t take too much time into their magic and its’ benefits not only for physical burden, but that of health, as well.
The Dwarf mainland, Ashight, is an industrial complex built into the Dalak’s Ridge, located at Ithofith’s peninsula, much similar to the Greeks’ mountain residence. To the east of Ithofith is more volcanic grounds, though it provides a great source of raw minerals and coal to fuel the fires when it comes to the Dwarf’s dominant trait - Blacksmithing.
The race of the Dwarfs are always looking to newer the technology they can build with metals and hammers, trinkets that make everyday task, much easier and less strain on the manual labor. Though, it all began with the craft that constructed works of survival, armor and weaponry to fight off the evil. When imbued with magic, these constructions became overpowering, top of the line art. And even in the world of today, they look to construct better, stronger plates and steels. But it didn’t stop there, no. Beyond the acts of war, the Dwarfs became fascinated with their trade at hand, and began to construct more beneficial means of machinery, from plated mills that not only siphoned water, but electricity as well, to automatic baking machinery, that required minimal assistance of magic.
Dragon
One of the lower populations within Aedai, Dragons are a global occurrence when it comes to residency. While they often pursue the Main Land, Kabal, as their home, Dragon clans can be found anywhere from the oceans to mountain peaks. These towering beast average in about 2.2~4.5 tons; 25ft (Muzzle to tail tip in length), and around 8-10ft (Head to Toe) height.
Unlike the folklore of Dragons being merciless, prowling beast upon the land that know only destruction, Dragons within Aedai are much more mature and connected with culture values. They speak proper tongue, evolve themselves around literature, and purpose intellectual conversations. Being one of the older Beast in the history of Aedai, they are very wise when it comes to the geographic terrain along the land, and its’ history sought by nature.
However, they are not as skilled in to Elf or Dwarf culture/history, and like the other races, actually document as they learn, which is added to a library of information welcomed to study.
Though, they are not all so different from the beast in the stories. Their dominant trait, other than the common attachment of mighty wings and flight, is by far their physical strength. With powerful paws with the ability to shake the ground beneath, and fangs that’ll rip apart flesh like a knife on butter, as well the massive wings that can take your feet from underneath you, it is a word of the wise to not make one of these beings angry.
Magic, in the eyes of a Dragon, is not only something that one is born with. Magic is something that gives you a choice. Rather it be to create, to aid, or to destroy. When it comes to the obvious, those who use their gift for their own personal beliefs, and seek to destroy others, or simply bring havoc upon Aedai, are looked down upon. And this rule of thumb is heavily enforced by the Dragons. They even have such a ritual that when one spoils their gift in such a nuisance, that they are locked away for a period of time, as a display of punishment. Those who do not learn, are even considered in such drastic matters of the Death punishment.
To Dragons, the majority use their magic as an essence of renewal. If it isn’t the destruction by their enhanced flame or other born element, it is their ability to manipulate said element into something beautiful. For instance, take a Earth Dragon and its’ magic, they may use it to create plant life, or to nurture that of the fallen.
Sprite
Sprites are a very important species to the Aedai ecosystem. While their population is at the lowest of all living life that exist in the realm, they are known to be the most pure. Their very existence differs from your ordinary life, being that they do not need to eat to survive, though they do require minimal fluids. Their physical appearance is similar to an Elf, with slender bodies and pointed ears, though their height is not as towering, averaging between 4’1~4’10ft. They hardly age in appearance, but their life cycle is well rounded to about 120~150 years.
These creatures are commonly known as “The Essence of Aedai”, or “A Dragon Soul”. While it is popular belief that their entire existence is magic alone, the fact that they can fly is very unique, as they can only be compared to Dragons. With translucent wings, like that of a dragonfly, they have the ability to fly, or ‘hover’, though it isn’t as great as Dragon wings.
They are very intelligent creatures, yet very playful and childish amongst the same. Also known to be mischievous, Sprites will not hesitate to go out of their way to play a healthy prank if it is in the means to cheer one up. They are not fond of any emotions beyond happiness (i.e. anger or sadness), and thus can seem commonly optimistic.
Another unique factor of a Sprite, is their way of travel. Dispersing into a handful of small, majestic orbs, this is a common way for Sprites to travel, while holding up a disguise from any predators. While in this form, they cannot be attacked or harmed, but it does take a concentrated amount of magic to hold up for long periods of time.
The homeland of the Sprites is a White Forest located within the Sven region, past the Great Lake of Mirrors. Like the Sprites, it is rumored that the White Forest itself, is strictly magic. Such rumor exist because, if you were to look at the reflection of the White Forest in the Lake, it seems nothing more than an average Ivory Forest. If you were to view the White Forest from across the Lake, however, you can notice the pastel lights emitting from the trees, and hundreds of floating orbs. These floating orbs, are actually more Sprites that live within the White Forest.
When a Sprite is resting, or unconscious, they retract into a soft, glowing orb appearance that will float in place. Unlike their traveling method that consist of many, small orbs - in their resting stage, it is only one orb, the size of a baseball. And, unlike their traveling method, they can be harmed. Thus, Sprites are often found in groups, and rest in well-protected environments.
Creature
Creatures of Aedai range from all sort of majestic beings, to casual mammals such as abnormally large wolves, bucks, felines, and that of the sort. And due to the large amount of variation between creatures, there is no average lifespan or presentation, as this all differs on account of the creature and its’ mass.
While to each is their own, the way a creature may portray their gifted element of Magic, all depends on their choices.
Note: While we welcome common creatures that exist in a FANTASY environment, we, as Admins, have every right to deny any Applications we come across that we find are not fit for the environment.
Examples that can be accepted, but not limited to: Larger-scale mammals, Unicorns.
Examples that will be denied, but not limited to, may consist of: Hell creatures, Mythological Beast, Undead, Bio-advanced creatures, Mermaids.
