The chosen Gifted Element focus for your character defines what kind of magical power your character possesses, in addition to innate racial abilities, or Dissimulatives’ ability to transform. Although the guidelines are lax, the different kinds of magic are broken down by element, and then by sub-focus. Each character should have control of one sub-focus of an element. Again, the guidelines are lax, but the standard chart is as followed. Note that the sub-focuses listed are just standard examples. If you come up with one you would like to use, or even come up with an entire new elemental category, it will be looked over by the staff and accepted or denied on a case by case basis.
Magical Element – Earth
-Earth (Manipulation of dirt and rock, including reshaping the landscape to some extent)
-Metalcraft (The ability to mold, sculpt, and manipulate metal & other minerals alike)
-Life (The ability to manipulate flora, fauna, and to temporarily enhance the strength, growth, healing speed, etc. of another life form)
Magical Element – Heat
-Fire (The ability to create and manipulate fire)
-Magma (The ability to create and manipulate molten rock)
-Pyroclastics (The ability to create and manipulate super heated gasses)
Magical Element – Liquid
-Water (The ability to manipulate and create water in its liquid form only)
-Ice (The ability to manipulate or create frost and ice)
-Poison (The ability to convert liquids to poisons through touch – a vial of simple water can be converted into a deadly weapon when applied to a blade)
Magical Element – Wind
-Air (Manipulation of air currents, such as sudden burts or blasts of wind to knock back enemies)
-Weather (Manipulation of localized weather patterns, can cause pouring rain or driving hail to distract and demoralize enemies)
-Electricity (Can create or manipulate destructive bolts of electricity, most powerful in a lightning storm)
Magical Element – Light
-Cure (Similar to that of Earth’s ‘Life’ trait to plantlife, the Light equivalent can be applied with characters, using that of Holy to heal wounds over time)
-Radiation (Can create searing blasts of radiation that hurt or burn enemies)
-Photosynthesis (Can draw power from light, exponentially increasing strength, speed, reflexes, etc. when submerged in sunlight)
Magical Element – Darkness
-Cloaking (Can shroud ones self in shadow, bending the light around them and becoming nearly invisible)
-Mimicry (Can create copies of oneself that are insubstantial but harass and confuse enemies)
-Drain (Offensive trait in which the enemy is struck, or is bound, and drained of power)
Magical Element – Psionics
-Telekinesis (The ability to move large amounts of matter simply with one’s mind)
-Telepathy (The ability to psionically interface with others, including mental attacks, controlling the minds of non sentient creatures, or just simple communication)
-Energy Manipulation (The ability to create blasts of psionic energy or to create psionic blades)
Control over these elements grants significant power, but this is not absolute. An ice controlling character can’t simply freeze the blood of others, a photosynthetic character can’t wrestle a full grown dragon to the ground with one hand, a maga focused character can’t create a massive volcano and destroy an entire city with it, etc. Also note that all focuses are equally powerful, though they may be useful for different things. For example, someone who can create lightning bolts may be more effective against single enemies, or even small groups, but someone who can manipulate the weather may be able to turn back an entire army.
