RULES: GENERAL
Registering:
When Registering an account in Dissimulation, we request that you chose a proper nickname you’ll like to be addressed by when speaking OOC. We do not enforce registering a new account per character, and you are welcome to have as many characters as you can handle, upon one registered account. We request that the name you chose please not be of any character you have an intention of playing, to avoid any collision between IC/OOC drama. Once you have registered, you will be able to view the full site, and what we have to offer.
Site Rating:
Dissimulation is rated R for Mature Themes (15+). This means that language, violence, and sexual themes may be played, and not limited to PMs. We ask that if you are under the age limit, uncomfortable with any of the three themes, or are too immature to attend, that you please do not register.
- Language: We allow any/all tongue IN CHARACTER. If this reaches OUT OF CHARACTER to offensive terms, you will be warned ONCE. The next time you are caught or reported, you will be banned. We will also monitor any sign of unnecessary chain-language, like curse words located in every other word, or every other sentence of a post. Be reasonable people.
- Violence: We are a Death-Welcomed site, which means characters can, and will die, if conditions are met. We only ask that you please consider the opposing player, and get their agreed permission of what is going to go down. Admins take no part in the choice, we just ask that you please notify us when a character becomes deceased, so we can move them to the Graveyard.
You are allowed to go as detailed as you wish when it comes to battle, gore, and other functions of battle, but again, be reasonable. If things are too descriptive, we ask that out of respect you please tag your thread title with a [M/V] tag. - Sexual Themes: First of all, anyone who strictly has a interest only to come here and cyber, will be immediately banned without a warning or another word said to them.
We do NOT tolerate any intentions of rape here. This may result in an immediate ban. As for sexual actions, we allow flirting & touching, but ask that you please fade to black, or continue elsewhere via IMs (not PMs on our board!), if you intent on going all the way. This is due to the Proboards TOS, and we would hate to see our board get deleted without any notification. If your thread consist of medicore flirting, that has the intention of leading towards sex, please mark it appropriately in the thread name with a [M/S] tag.
Also; for anyone who plays pregnancy, note that the birthing experience has to stay in tact with the Aedai timeline. You can find changes in the Date, and when the next update will occur to your left, in the Sidebars under the Event tab. Once the child is born, the child remains an infant until the next Cycle update, where you may skip to age five, to give the child more playability.
Word Count:
At Dissimulation, we do not have a required word count. However, we are an intermediate site, so we do ask that you try your best. We are looking for quality versus quantity here, and it will be monitored occasionally. If we come across someone that is posting three or more paragraphs for a post, and the opposing player is constantly replying with one to three lines, we will call you out.
If you need help expanding your roleplaying post / experience, feel free to check here at our Library and visit the “How to Expand your RP Experience” thread.
Activity:
Everyone has an outside life that does not include the computer, and we are well aware of this. There are even some people as daring to go as far as spending hours without a single electronic - spooky thought, isn’t it? There are also issues when it comes to persona muse, which we should all be very well familiar with.
However, it is requested that you make the effort of posting at least 2-3 times a week in character. If you come across information that you may be absent for longer than a three-day period, is it asked that you please post in the <Absent Thread> to let us know.
We conduct activity checks once a month, and those who do not have an Absent notice, and do not attend the activity check, your account will be removed, and your characters will either be up for adoption or archived.
Thread Capture:
Here at Dissimulation, we hold a feature called Thread Capture. What this is, is when a thread becomes complete, it is asked that you mark the thread with a [C] in the title. Once an admin comes across a completed thread, they move it to the archive where it can be reviewed for reference, or for a simple read, and also stamp it with ARCHIVED, and a link to where the continuation of the story goes, if the thread exist with the characters.
This feature is beneficial to those who simply come to sites to read the developing story, or even members who need to grow back their muse, and makes it easier to continue the story as it happens, in order.
RULES: CHARACTERS:
Character Applications:
Here at Dissimulation, we offer a variety of races and occupations for the players to chose from. With the provided template in the Character Submission Thread, you simply copy/paste the code into a new thread, titled as your characters’ name.
We also ask that before you make a template, that you read over carefully the details of your Race. We, as admins, have every right to deny any application we see not proper, or request changes in the applications as we see fit.
While we do not require players to make a new account per every new character they wish to create, we do have some minor guidelines. First, only create as many characters as you can make time for. Characters that are observed and assumed to be inactive, may be requested to be archived or adoption. Second, per every new character, we request a post count to confirm your activity along the site. While your first character is free of charge, you are welcomed at any time to post a template for another character. However, it will not be accepted until you reach the required post count.
- First Character: Free
- Second Character: 15 Post Count
- Third Character: 30 Post Count
- Fourth Character: 50 Post Count
- Five or more: 100+ Post Count
Post Orders:
If more than two members occupy an in character thread, a post order is required based on the order in which the next member enters. This order is to remain in sync, until the member clarifies that they have taken their leave, or until the thread is complete.
If a member becomes absent and does not post in a multi-occupied thread within three days; the post order has the option to continue without the other member for ONE cycle. That means you may post in the order until you come to the absentee again. If the member does not return in five days (including that of the previous three), you may continue the thread and take assumption that the characters involved with the absent member have left.
Point Of View:
We require that all In Character post remain in 3rd Person, as it creates an easier flow, especially with more than two posters at a time.
Play-Bys:
While we welcome any type of play-bys, rather it be animated figure or real-time celebrity as REFERENCE figures, we do not allow play-bys to be the character, themselves. You may reference that they may look similar, but you cannot play, the play-by. We thoroughly encourage original characters, and want each character to bring a new, fresh attitude and appearance to the story, instead of the same old faces you’ll find on other roleplay forums.
Age Limits:
We have no age limit for characters, however, we do have limits on age. We look to keep a balance between children, teen, middle age, and elders of all races. Thus, we ask that when creating multiple characters, consider mixing your muse up a bit and creating different personas and ages.
God-Moding is a No-No!:
Perfection does not exist. Nor does immortality, or invincibility. Keep it in mind when creating a character that everyone has their strength and faults, and consider balancing them out with common sense. If one is shy, they certainly aren’t one to run into battle head first. Or, if one has the gift in Fire element, they probably wouldn’t take Water with open arms.
Also, keep hands to yourself! You control your characters, and your characters only! You do not control the actions of any other players’ characters. Here is a quick example of how to avoid god moding:
Player X delivers a punch to Player Y’s face. (NO!)
Player X throws a punch at Player Y, aiming towards his face. (YES!)
If you like more tips on how to better your roleplaying skills, and avoid leaning towards any misinterpretation that may be god moding, feel free to visit our Library, and visit the “How to Expand your RP Experience” thread.
RULES: OUT OF CHARACTER:
Admins Word is Law:
Anything we Admins say, goes. This applies to everything and anything. If we find something wrong, or we request something of you, there is to be no arguments. While members are welcomed to help around, offer suggestions in the Suggestion Thread, and offer services when required, in no circumstance does their word promise anything, unless followed up by an Admin.
Respect:
Not only is it necessary to respect the Admins, but everyone on Dissimulation at any given time. You will respect the Staff, you will respect the Members, you will respect the Guest/Browsers. You are required to keep any personal drama out of our public threads, and the Chat-Box. If you have issues with anyone on the site, that involves the site, you are to seek out an Admin and explain the situation. We will NOT assist in any personal issues that deal outside of Dissimulation.
