Personality
-Gentle Giant
He doesn’t like fighting, period. He would rather find a solution to end the fight rather than fighting it out and possibly injuring or killing himself. However, when pushed into a corner, he will lash out and attack until he knows he can flee safely or will fight for friends and/or allies. Also, he is willing to help a random stranger out, as long as he knows they will not do anything to him.
-Loyal
He is extremely loyal and his loyalty can be easily compared to the dragons bound to their partners. Once he gains a friend or ally, he is willing to help them out with any problems. He is even willing to fight for them to escape and will not allow any evil pass through. This stems from his lonely childhood due to his mixed genetics.
-Free-spirited
He likes to do anything he wishes and will do them with minimal trouble. He would much rather spend time out in the wild than being trapped in cities or villages. Most of all, he loves to fly around, despite the fact that he might have to brush his hair for a hour or so.
-Shy
Due to his past, he has been shy around elves and new people, out of fear that they may attack him for no reason other than his obvious mixed genetics. Sometimes, his shyness does save him from anything serious as he will clam up in front of some people. However, sometimes he may not be shy around people at all. The reasons for this is unknown.
-Alter Ego
He is aware of this so-called ‘alter ego’ concept and fears the term applies to him as well. He knows very well that he has that dark side when he snaps. He starts to act more like a dragon, hissing and flicking his tail in a warning manner. When his warning isn’t respected, he will attack, proceeding to do his best to rip anything into shreds. Also, when he is turned to his dark side, he may randomly use electricity or fire in short bursts.
Appearance
He appears to be a bipedal draconian figure from afar, but he reveals to have more draconian traits than elven traits when he is viewed up close. However, the traits seems to be split up in obvious halves. The upper part of his body is elven-like but with many differences from normal elves. The most obvious one is that some of his skin is colored red and most of his body is covered in crimson scales.
He has a pair of ebony horns upon his head and his hair is golden brown, going down to the base of his neck from the lack of keeping it short. His ears are shaped much like the elven ones and his eyes are colored emerald with black cat-like pupils. His head and face are much similar to the elves instead of the dragons (and he is very thankful for this). Nevertheless, he has some problems speaking since his fangs tends to interfere with some of his words.
His body is quite well-toned, sporting some muscles here and there on his front and possibly some on his back due to the wings being on there. Even with all of these muscles, it is quite obvious that he is also slender, most likely from his mother’s side of genetics. He has some deadly claws upon his hands in place for the normal fingernails. Sometimes, there would be some rumors that his attacks with claws is fatal, but he will say he merely used electricity when he strikes, ending the fight quicker for whatever reasons.
His lower half resembles much like a dragon except for his nether regions, but that’s for another time. Like it has been repeated before, this area is also slender but powerful, especially when he runs on all fours or uses his tail to strike. His legs and tail is partly covered in scales in order to move around more easily. The very end of his tail rests a tail-blade, somehow shaped into a stern-looking dragon face, completed with a green gem that is inexplicably there for the eyes.
He is around 6’5” when he stands up tall and weighs around 160 pounds. His wingspan measures up to 23 feet altogether from the wing tip to the other wing tip. From his head to the very tip of his tail, he measures up to be around 12 feet.
Onto the subject of his clothes, he wears almost nothing except for some tight pants so that there would be almost no interferences from his flight. He wears a standard-issue flying cap and goggles for Dragon Riders (He had to steal them) upon his head to keep his hair in order and goggles to protect his eyes, considering that he doesn’t have special eyes like his father. Also, he keeps his sword at his hip when walking or running and has the sword upon his back when flying.
History
He was born within Liath, the Elf city, shocking everyone with his initial appearance as a babe as they worked to perform the C section safely to deliver the baby and keep the mother alive. The mother had no idea her lover was a Drake or any other creatures that could resemble the outcome of the babe’s appearance. She had told the ones who would judge her that she had no idea and did ask her lover frequently about it. He had assured her he was a pure elf. She felt heartbroken but still loved him, even if he was a Drake.
His childhood was a good one, surprisingly, due to the fact that Elves believed that if they mistreated someone, evil may grow within them, feeding off their dark emotions. In order to prevent this, they treated Ao as best as they could like what they would treat their kids with loving care. However, the elven kids did not understand why the adults were treating the different kid and frequently bullied him by throwing small rocks at him, pushing him around, verbally abusing him, and mocking him. The adults saw this and had to punish them and explain them every time they attempted to bully Ao.
Eventually, Ao grew up to his teenager years and his shyness prevented him from speaking to any of his schoolmates, not that anyone would want to talk to him. This phase of his life was sad and lonely and he found small comfort in reading books and talking to his mother about it. One day, he had been walking around the city alongside the Rilina river when his bully came along.
“Hey Ao! Watch this!”
He raised his head with an eyebrow quirking upwards in a questioning manner when he saw a large rock rush at him. Needless to say, he could not move in time and the rock had smashed into him. He was sent flying into the river, where he floated helplessly with several of his bones broken. He was extremely lucky to have his head intact, or even his body intact.
Something within the gentle hybrid had snapped. As he gazed at the laughing face of his bully, he felt no shyness or fear, only pure fury and desire to snap his neck. He could not move due to his horrid injuries so he merely closed his eyes, preserving his energy.
His kindergarten teacher heard something cracking and went to investigate (as he had been walking along the river as well), only to find the first bully laughing at the deformed shape of Ao. Fury welled within the teacher’s body and he went up to slap the teen’s face, shouting the words he never wanted to hear.
“YOU ARE NOW BANISHED FROM THIS CITY HENCEFORTH!”
The teen lost his wits and attempted to fight against the teacher, only to be found by the others and was arrested and indeed was banished officially. The teacher went to Ao and carefully carried him to his mother’s house, where a Shaman waited for them. She explained that she had a bad feeling coming from this city and was directed towards here since they thought she was talking of Ao. Afterwards, she refused to speak anymore as she needed all of her mind to repair Ao’s broken limbs. This process would be repeated for several months and, when it was time, she left, but not without giving out a warning that something changed within the Magundi.
The teacher who had found him feared that she spoke of evil within him but he would soon find out. He went into the library, pondering on how evil could have grown within the banished teen and not Ao. He let out a sigh when his search went fruitless and returned to meet up with him, only to find him hissing and smacking his tail against the floor, much like an angered or fearful Dragon or Drake would do.
Ao was only seventeen when he ran away from the city, vowing to never to return to that dreadful city. Little did he know, everyone was going to help him recover from the event and apologize for not stopping that teen from doing that. When they discovered he was gone, they all mourned and requested the teacher to find him before the evil could attempt to gain control of his soul. The teacher took up to this task and warned that he may not return for a long time as he left on the back of his faithful horse.
It had taken long and harsh three years to find him. He had been traveling on the mountains, doing his best to track Ao on the rocky terrain. Since the hybrid was half dragon, the horse reacted wherever he was close, but that also warned him to flee from the elf. Nevertheless, he was determined to find him. As he rode on his horse, directing it carefully across the narrow roads and over large rocks until he had found Ao, sitting right on the edge.
“AO!”
The familiar voice shocked him and his body propelled him into the empty air out of fear, his wings locked up. This time, he would die from the fall alone. A flash of red, much like the color upon his body, rushed at him and spun him enough for his wings to open and catch wind. He looked up to see his Drake father, staring at him and waiting for him to come up to the cliff, where the elf stood still with fear etched within his eyes.
The father flew to the cliff and landed, causing the horse to screech with innate fear of dragons. He simply ignored the horse as he swung his head to watch Ao struggle with his first flight. His emerald eyes was on his son, tracking his movements and attempting to analyze where he would land if his wings were to give out from their first time in flight. As soon as his wings started to buckle, the dragon flew off the cliff and swooped down to grab Ao before he could fall to the ground.
Tilting his wings, he flew upwards to land once more on that exact spot, gently plopping the hybrid down on the rough ground. He softly nuzzled the shivering figure and murmured gentle sounds before curling up around him. He glanced at the tall man before nodding, allowing him to come forth.
“Is.. Is he okay?” The teacher came forth and peered over the Drake’s entangled limbs to check on Ao. He seemed to be fine, if not quite worn out from that simple gliding.
“He will be fine. That was his first flight. A rather short one, if you ask me but beggars cannot be choosers. Has he practiced his wings at all?” The Drake rumbled, questioning the elf of his child’s past.
As they spoke, they discussed many things that was about Ao and the elf had to explain in detail on some things. They never noticed the sun had went down until things seemed too dark. Noticing the elf getting scared of the dark, he willingly lighted some branches on fire. As he did so, he had woken Ao up.
“Urgh... Why am I so sore...?” He moaned, rubbing his neck and shoulders as he moved to sit up. He winced as he felt his muscles singing pain.
“You flew.” Both Drake and Teacher spoke at the same time.
“I did? Oh, right. Something came at me...” The hybrid muttered, sounding quite confused.
“Do you have a problem with your memory?” The drake asked, staring stoically at him. How did he forget that he was the one who had--somewhat--forced the flight on him?
“No! I just woke up. So, who are you?” Ao defended himself, glaring slightly at the dragon in front of him. Now that he could see him clearly, he noted that there was quite fair bit of similarities between both of them. Wait, could this dragon be...?
“Y-you’re my dad?” He asked nervously. Never he had once seen his father, only the odd shadows of a dragon flying over the city from time to time. When that did happen, his mother would always look so sad, as if she wanted that speck to come down.
“Yes. I apologize for leaving you all alone with your mother. I know... you may not forgive me for doing so.” The dragon murmured, leaning down to brush some of Ao’s hair out of his face with his muzzle. The hybrid did not move, allowing him to do so. He had finally found his father but he had vowed to never return to the city.
He let out a sad sigh and cuddled up close to his father, relishing the warmth that radiated from his belly. He soon closed his eyes and fell into sleep. The dragon watched him briefly before turning to the elf, who had already stood up and prepared his horse.
“Are you going to leave without telling him?” He asked as he stared at the slender man getting on his horse.
“...Yes. I entrust you will take care of him. He must now learn of his draconian side, for he has already learned of his elven side.” The teacher spoke, his expression nothing but deep sadness for leaving the young man he once taken care of. However, he knew someday this would happen and would allow him to explore the world. Still, it had hurt his heart to see one of his best students leaving, possibly forever.
The Drake watched the elf and the horse disappear into the darkness and silently listened to the soft clops until that too disappeared. Now he was tasked with taking care of his son. He glanced down at the sleeping form of his son and sighed lightly. He was sure this wasn’t going to be easy...
As he had feared, it wasn’t easy dealing with Ao as he had to teach him how to find his ‘gifted’ element, flying, fighting, and all other things that all races had to deal with. This process had taken several years until he was able to master flying and breathing flames. The lightning element remained a problem until he grew to be 24 years old. At that age, he was able to control it but couldn’t master it. He decided he was old enough to finally venture out by himself and traveled the region, continuing his training and attempts at mastering his lightning element.
As he grew into 25 years old, he was able to finally master most of the advanced lightning spells and could hold his own in fights with his sword instead of resorting to his claws, tail-blade and elements.
