Position
Captain of the Aerial Host
Weapon of Choice
Due to his position in the Aerial Host, Rhadriar was given the ceremonial weapon allowed to the hominid of the captain pair. However, unlike many ceremonial weapons, that of the Captain of the Host is an incredibly deadly weapon in combat. The Dragonblade is a spear, about eight feet in length, the shaft of which is covered in dragon scales of every feasibly color. The blade itself is crafted of folded steel, but the thing that makes it truly special is that the head is actually tied to a length of dragon tendon, nearly unbreakable, and is spring loaded into the top. With a twist of the spear, the blade can be launched out at a high enough velocity to pierce even dragon scale, within thirty feet. The barbed edge also allows it to hook into the victim, preventing it from simply being pulled out once embedded.
Gifted Element
Ice/Cold
Personality
-Just: Rhadriar has a very well defined set of morals, and as such, sees it as his duty to enforce justice whenever necessary. This is one of many ways in which he is very similar to other dragons.
-Severe: Although Rhadriar is a very strong believer in justice, he will not shy from killing those he sees as an impediment to this principle. If he sees a crime committed, he will capture and hand over the perpetrator, or kill them in the attempt.
-Humorous: Seemingly not in accordance with his other attributes, Rhadriar actually has a very broad sense of humor.
-Accepting: One way in which his attitude differs from most other dragons, is his reaction to those different from himself. He does take pride in his draconic heritage, but while many other dragons are proud to the extreme, he respects and does not underestimate the other sentient races.
Appearance
Rhadriar, having been raised a member of dragon culture, almost always retains his true draconic form. A frost dragon, his shimmering scales appear metallic silver, and are about as strong as the metal as well, providing for excellent armor. These scales cover a body rippling with muscle, especially in the upper body where his wings attach to his body. His wings themselves are composed of long fingers, between which is stretched a thick, leathery membrane. Like most dragons, Raedriar's wings would not be able to carry him through the air, due to his weight, if not for his magical nature.
His underbelly is made of up armored plates, which just barely don't overlap, leaving the chinks between the pieces his most vulnerable area. Even so, it is very difficult to kill a dragon. His fore and back legs are both paw like, with sharp protruding claws. Similarly to most other draconic creatures, his back legs are digitigrade, with one more joint than their frontal counterparts.
Even though he is young, Rhaedriar is massive for a dragon, and from the front of his head to the back of his tail spans an impressive thirty-five feet. He weighs in at over 5.1 tons. In humanoid form, he is still huge, at seven feet tall and three hundred forty pounds. As he is still fairly young for a dragon, Rhaedriar retains many dragon like aspects in his humanoid form.
Firstly, his skin has a very obvious silver sheen. Not to the point where he looks like a metal sculpture, but still quite prominent. Secondly, his "hair" is made of thick, spiky strands that appear somewhat quill like. These are the remnants of his horns and crest. Third, his eyes remain the luminescent icy color of his dragon form, unnatural for most humanoid creatures. However, he does have enough control to prevent wings, claws, or a tail from appearing, meaning that, if necessary, he can pass himself off as some kind of northern "frost elf."
History
Rhadriar was born to an earth dragon, his father, by the name of Ausar, and his mother, another frost dragon by the name of Valyrio. When it was discovered that he was a drake, or dissimulative, his parents, instead of casting him out as was done with many others of his "kind," decided to keep him and raise him as a dragon. As such, Rhadriar prefers to be called a "dissimulative dragon," as he very much identifies with dragons and draconic culture.
Due to this, unlike many other dissimulatives, draconic moral and cultural values were instilled in him, and he transformed so little that he might as well have been full blooded. Living with his parents allowed him to learn vast amounts of wisdom passed down by his mother and father, and gave him security in his early life. That would not last, however. During his seventeenth year, while he was still little more than a hatchling, a large band of treasure hunters ascended the mountain in which his father had made their home.
They had come seeking the fairly modest (by dragon standards) horde of valuable metals and minerals that had been collected by Auras over the years. He had collected them for one very simple reason: dragons must ingest metals and minerals in order to keep their scales healthy and strong. The band of treasure hunters, though, who were little more than armed thieves, gave little thought to the health of their victims. Almost forty strong, they assaulted the cavern whilst the dragon family slept. Rhadriar's mother and father fought bravely, slaughtering dozens of the vile attackers, but they were unprepared, and the entire family was killed, but for Rhaedriar, who had talked the form of a small humanoid and slipped out the back of the cavern.
Upon reaching the exit, however, he realized that he faced a problem. If he attempted to leave on foot he would be caught, as even in humanoid form he could not hope to outrun those that were filling their bags with loot. Indeed, if he wanted to escape, he would need to fly away. This, however, was where the true problem lay, for his mother had never taught him to fly. Suddenly, however, the noises from the cavern began to draw nearer, and suddenly there was a shout, and a man rushed forwards. Using his element to slick the attacker's path, Rhadriar watched as the man slipped, tumbling off the cliff and falling to his death. seizing the opportunity, he leapt after the man, spreading his wings instinctually, and floating down before alighting beside the man.
He slipped under the biped's arm, covering himself in its blood, so that it looked to those who moved to the edge to observe that he had been tackled off the cliff and died upon hitting the ground. After a day or so, the group left, and Rhadriar kept his life. However, a rage began to build inside of him, one that demanded blood for the death of his siblings and parents. After a while, he moved back into the cave, as he needed the metals that had been left behind in order to keep up his scales. After a while, when the pile began to shrink, he was forced to rely on his humanoid form more and more, until finally he was forced to only change forms when hunting.
After another ten years, at the age of twenty-seven he had reached physical adolescence, and was ready to enact revenge. In his humanoid form he managed to locate the group that was responsible for his suffering. It didn't matter that most of those who had been there had long been replaced by newer members. They would all die.
Rhadriar slipped into their camp in the middle of the night, moving from tent to tent and methodically slitting the throats of their occupants. As each victim's life left their body, Rhadriar felt his burden of rage flowing away, until finaly, only one tent, that of the leader of the forty men that had made camp. Changing to his natural dragon form, he slipped inside. Even at this young age, he was still nearly as large as a horse, and weighed over four hundred pounds. When he was done, the man's body wasn't recognizable as elven.
This was the point at which Rhadriar decided that he would allign himself against the elves, as those who had destroyed his family were part of Liath. He spent his next half-decade or so living in a small city in Yijel, studying the mannerisms of humanoids, whilst attempting to perfect his shifting skills. As much as he preferred his dragon form, he recognized the importance of being able to effectively gain information from other sentient species if he were to function in society. This also allowed him to cut down on his consumption of valuable minerals, which were the highest drain on his income from working at various establishments.
Eventually, at the age of seventy, still quite young, he set out once more, this time for Kabal city, where those of his kind lived in great number, and where dissimulatives were not only welcome, but in power. Upon entering the city, he was amazed by the sheer size of it, and the density in which the hominids lived. After the welcoming attitude people had towards him as he entered, and the sheer wonder of the place, Rhadriar decided that he would stay indefinitely. Several weeks into the fight, however, the city was assaulted by a dwarven army from Ashight. Used to fighting, and not willing to allow what had happened to his family to happed to the city, Rhadriar elisted in the Aerial Host.
He was paried up with an anthrolope named Kusova only twenty two years old, and began training under the tutelage of another veterain dragon-rider pair. While the dragon, Ain'var would teach Rhadriar the art of arial combat, including quick ascencion, sudden reversals, dives, and most importantly, how NOT to squish on'e rider into a puddle of unidentifiable goo, he could see her training in the usage of crossbows lances and other weaponry below. For almost a year, the daily routine of the two was to practice from when the sun first shopne though the carved away cieling of the city, to when the two colapsed into an exhausted heap as night fell.
The most difficult training for rider and drake was getting used to one another in a flight. Kusova couldn't help but retch the first time she flew, and Rhadriar could barely manage to resist the urge to scratch the itch that the saddle caused, potentialy flinging his rider to the earth from some sevela hundreds of meters in the air. Eventually, training complete, and at the respective ages of 116 and twenty four, they were deployed into battle for the first time, against Rhadriar's most despised enemies, the elves of Liath.
The battle was a great victory, with many of the enemy slain, and the bond between rider and mount grew closer, fomring an unbreakable friendship. Unfortunately, like all hominids, Kusova's lifetime sped by from Rhadriar's perspective, and seventy five years later, she died, long since having been unable to ride. Rhadriar, grief stricken, refused to take another rider, and almost refused to take the position of Captain of the Host when it was presented to him by the city council, as the previous leader had fallen just months after his own rider.
However, the drake thought better of this decision, taking on the responsibility, and becoming the hosts's first lone captain, a position he is able to fill due to his nature as a dissimulative. With Dragon Spear in hand, he now leads the force which he has been a member of for decades in the constant conflict between his city and the two others that are found in the realm of Aedai.
